The Ghana Science Association (GSA) has officially inaugurated the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for its upcoming 34th Biennial Conference at a ceremony held at the Boardroom of the School of Medicine, º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø (UDS), Tamale Campus. The conference is scheduled to be hosted at the º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø, Tamale from Tuesday, 23rd to Thursday, 25th September 2025, is on the theme “Leveraging Innovative Science to Strengthen Public-Private Partnerships for Sustainable Development in Ghana”.

The inauguration, chaired by the GSA National President, Prof. Gideon Kofi Helegbe, brought together the National executives, Tamale branch leadership, and a 25-member LOC. Welcoming participants to the inauguration, the National President of GSA expressed his appreciation for members honouring the invitation to the inauguration. He highlighted the conference's theme, objectives, and expected outcomes. He encouraged LOC members to take ownership of the planning process to ensure a successful event.

The LOC, chaired by Dr. Williams Walana, was officially introduced and segmented into four subcommittees: Information Communication Technology (ICT), Publicity, Venue/Accommodation/Catering Services, and Protocol/Programmes/Rapporteur. Each subcommittee includes professionals from diverse backgrounds committed to organizing a successful conference.

The inauguration proceeded with Prof. Helegbe formally declaring the LOC inaugurated on behalf of the National Executive Council (NEC), after confirming the members’ acceptance of their roles.

Dr. Walana expressed gratitude for the opportunity in his acceptance speech and pledged the committee's full commitment. During the open remarks session, Dr. Kwame Opare-Asamoah emphasized innovation, collaboration, and co-opting additional members where needed.

The GSA Biennial Conference is a national conference organized by the association to showcase scientific research contributions and innovations in science and technology. It brings together scientists, engineers, mathematicians, postgraduate students, and the private sector to drive national development.

The conference will provide a platform to engage all stakeholders and encourage scientists to share and cross-fertilize scientific information and ideas and also inspire researchers to conduct multidisciplinary research in collaboration with policymakers and industry players.
