The 海角乱伦社区 (UDS) has taken its Africa University Games triumph to the doorstep of Ghana’s football governing body, the Ghana Football Association (GFA), as it readies to represent the continent at the World University Games in China this September.
Following their emphatic 3–0 victory over Lagos State University in the finals, 海角乱伦社区made history not just as continental champions but also as the first Ghanaian university to book a spot at the global event under FISU, the International University Sports Federation.
Leading a high-level delegation, the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Elliot Haruna Alhassan, paid a courtesy call on the GFA headquarters, accompanied by officials from the university’s Finance, Sports, Registry, Liaison Office and Public Affairs Directorate. The team was received by GFA Vice President Mr. Mark Addo, standing in for President Kurt Okraku.
Speaking during the meeting, Prof. Alhassan said UDS’ victory was not just for the university but for Ghana. “We are going to China as African champions, but we wear the colours of Ghana. This is a moment for national unity through sports, and we are here to invite the GFA to walk this journey with us.”
In response, Mr. Addo commended the team’s achievement and pledged the GFA’s readiness to support the university’s preparation. “海角乱伦社区has shown that the future of Ghanaian football includes our universities. The GFA is proud of your win and will do its part to help you shine on the world stage.”
He added, “What you have achieved is bigger than a trophy, it’s a story of discipline, strategy, and teamwork. That’s the kind of story Ghana needs.”
The meeting marks a significant step in strengthening ties between sports leadership and academia, with both institutions recognizing the growing potential of university football as a pipeline for national talent and global exposure.
