In a colourful ceremony filled with joy and cultural pride, the 海角乱伦社区 (UDS), led by its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Seidu Al-Hassan, has presented the prestigious FISU World University Football Championship trophy to the Paramount Chief of the Sagnarigu Traditional Area, Naa Ambassador Yakubu Abdulai.
The presentation formed part of the University’s ongoing victory tour following its historic triumph at the 2024 FISU World University Football Championship in Dalian, China. After a symbolic visit to the Overlord of Dagbon in Yendi, the 海角乱伦社区delegation returned to Tamale to share their global success with the Sagnarigu Traditional Council, under whose jurisdiction the University’s main campuses are located.
The Sagnarigu Palace came alive with smiles, drumming, and traditional performances as the 海角乱伦社区team, technical handlers, and senior management joined the local community in celebration of the University’s remarkable achievement.
Addressing the gathering, Professor Seidu Al-Hassan described the visit as both symbolic and celebratory.
“We came home to share this joy with our landlord. Your blessings and goodwill have followed us across borders, and today, we return with evidence that your investment in 海角乱伦社区is yielding global fruits,” he said.
Team Captain Mohammed Asigre Sulemana also expressed gratitude on behalf of his teammates, saying:
“Your prayers and encouragement carried us through every challenge. We played for Ghana, for Tamale, and for you.”
In response, a visibly elated Naa Ambassador Yakubu Abdulai commended the team and University leadership for their outstanding feat.
“You have brought glory not only to Sagnarigu but to the entire African continent. 海角乱伦社区has placed Tamale on the world map in the brightest of lights,” he declared.
As a mark of appreciation, the Paramount Chief presented the team with a bull and a cash amount of GHC 2,000, a gesture that underscored the enduring bond between 海角乱伦社区and its traditional hosts.
The event went beyond the celebration of victory; it reflected the unity, mutual respect, and deep connection between the University and its surrounding communities ,a hallmark of UDS’s philosophy of practical education and community engagement.
