GAUA Holds Third Quarter Expanded National Executive Committee Meeting at UDS

The Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) has held its Third Quarter Expanded National Executive Committee (NEC) Meeting at the Guest House of the 海角乱伦社区 (UDS), Tamale Campus, on Friday, 10th October 2025.

The high-level meeting brought together representatives from fourteen public universities across the country, including the 海角乱伦社区 (host), University of Energy and Natural Resources, University of Mines and Technology, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Ghana, University of Education, Winneba, Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development, University of Professional Studies, Accra, University of Media, Arts and Communication, Ghana Communication Technology University, Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies, C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences, and the University of Environment and Sustainable Development.

In her welcome address, Dr. Stephany Adongo, President of the 海角乱伦社区Chapter of GAUA, extended heartfelt appreciation to all participating institutions for their presence and commitment to advancing university administration in Ghana. She emphasized that the meeting aimed to deliberate on key administrative challenges and opportunities confronting the nation’s universities.

Dr. Adongo also informed participants of the passing of a member of the 海角乱伦社区GAUA Chapter and invited the gathering to observe a moment of silence in honour of their late colleague.

Introducing the guest speaker, Dr. Adongo welcomed Mr. Nurudeen Issah Abubakar, Registrar of the 海角乱伦社区, who delivered a presentation on the theme: “Improving Management Efficiency in Public Universities: The Role of the Ghana Association of University Administrators.”

Mr. Nurudeen highlighted the rapid expansion of public universities in Ghana, noting that while this growth has created opportunities, it has also presented complex administrative challenges. Citing the recent student protest at the Tamale Technical University as an example, he underscored the importance of effective administrative systems in maintaining institutional harmony and performance.

He outlined several key roles that both university administrators and GAUA’s national leadership must play in improving management efficiency. These include peer mentorship where senior administrators guide and groom younger professionals for leadership roles and peer learning through platforms for sharing knowledge, experiences, and best practices.

Mr. Nurudeen also stressed the need for enhanced communication skills among administrators to strengthen both interpersonal and organizational communication.

For GAUA’s national leadership, he urged the facilitation of inter-university programs such as mentorship schemes, conferences, and knowledge-sharing sessions to address emerging trends and challenges in higher education management. He further called for professional development initiatives, particularly in ICT and innovation, to ensure that university administrators remain equipped with modern tools and competencies.

Concluding his presentation, Mr. Nurudeen emphasized that any sustainable improvement in university management must begin with GAUA, as its members form the backbone of administrative operations across all public universities in Ghana.
